Mum went with me to The Creative Craft Show on the Sunday afternoon, I had to go to the office to pick up my free ticket and as it was after 1pm mums ticket was half price. It was really quiet, we walked easily through the show looking at the fabrics, threads and bits and bobs. Mum was looking at something when I spotted the Pattern Pages stand so I wandered over to have a look. I wasn't expecting to know the result till later so I was really surprised to see a little 1st place tag on my bag. I rushed back and told mum, she dropped what she was looking at and came over to see. I thought I had a good chance, but there was a really lovely denim necklace that I though might pip me to 1st so I was actually really surprised. I can't tell you how pleased I was, I have won a few things before but to win something with such a good prize was fantastic.
We went back to where we were and looked at stalls till it was time for prize giving. People clustered around as the winners were read out and people collected their prizes and had their photos taken. When they called my name they said my piece was a child's bag, I said, 'It's not a child's bag, it's mine.' I suppose due to the subject matter or the colours it could be seen as a kids object but the scale is totally wrong, the strap way too long. I made it for me, I never once considered children we I designed it, and I can't wait to use it when I get it back. Anyway I received a certificate and a goody bag at the prize giving. The Janome sewing machine will find it's way to me shortly, I also won the Judges Choice which is a £50 voucher for Netprinter, they print PDF sewing patterns, plans and posters, apparently. I've never bought a download pattern so I shall have to look into that. I won't get my bag back for a year, it's going on tour with the craft shows, I hope it comes home in good condition, it'd be a shame if it gets damaged before I can use it. http://www.thepatternpages.com/sew-your-style-2018/
We looked at the rest of the show, that didn't take long it was nowhere near as big as the Knitting and Stitching or Festival of Quilts. Mum bought a couple of books, I liked some fabric but didn't buy anything. We stopped on the way home to buy some celebration cider and a lady said she loved my dress and asked me if it was from Joules, I told her that I had made it myself and she seemed really impressed. I was wearing my pineapple dress, I didn't tell her I made it out of a duvet cover.
